Methodist Health believes that every nurse contributes to quality patient outcomes. We have a Professional Development and Recognition Council that develops, implements, and evaluates incentives and rewards for the entire nursing body. The council includes front line staff from all areas of nursing as well as the recruiter from Human Resources. The council is responsible for the following activities on an annual basis, as well as other activities that promote recognition of nurses:

Nurses Week: The nurses week celebration is an annual event held during national nurse's week that celebrates and honors the profession of nursing.
Nursing Excellence Awards: The Nursing Excellence Awards recognizes Methodist Nurses who have been nominated by their peers for excellence in nursing practice.
Beyond A Smile Cards: Patients, families, visitors and employees recognize staff for providing exceptional service. The cards are posted on the employee's home unit, then moved to bulletin boards that are placed throughout the Hospital for others to acknowledge.
Daisy Foundation Award: Patients, families, and visitors recognize staff for demonstrating excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care.
Sunshine Award: Patients, families and visitors recognize employees who support nurses in caring for our patients and demonstrate SUNSHINE: Smiling, Understanding and Nurturing while Sharing a Helping hand In Nursing Excellence.
