Olivia Watson, Physical Therapy Assistant, Therapy Services, began her career at Methodist Health Union County on June 10, 2013, after graduating from Madisonville Community College with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Physical Therapy. She also spent six weeks at Methodist Health Union County as a student during her clinical training.

A native of Waverly, KY, Watson was first exposed to physical therapy as a career during a health services class while attending Union County High School. “Observing what went on here stimulated my interest in pursuing it after I graduated,” she said. Watson is now researching options to continue her schooling with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.

Watson says the favorite part of her job is helping patients recover. “We do a lot of education with our outpatients, teaching them home exercises so they can return to normal living. When working with swing bed patients, we help them regain their strength so they can manage at home. It’s rewarding to see patients make progress.”

“I really enjoy my job,” she added. “It would be difficult to accomplish the things listed on the nomination form for Spirit of Excellence without a good team effort from all the people I work with.”

Comments by her nominator:

“Olivia comes in early or stays late to satisfy the needs of the patients. Even when she works them hard at improving their health, they still keep asking for her to work with them. She has a heart for the job and a bigger heart for the patients.”

“She greets patients with a smile and a very comforting tone. She listens and shows she genuinely cares for them.”

“She never sits idle. If a patients cancels or is a no-show for their appointment, she is up on the floor with a patient or helping front office staff in some way to help in customer satisfaction.”

“Olivia works really well with all coworkers, not only the ones in her department. Whenever I am out on the floor, I hear the positive reviews she gets from others, which makes me proud to be associated with her.”
