Barbara Spainhoward, CMA, Methodist Family Medicine, Henderson, began her
career at Methodist in 2011. “I was part of the ‘float pool,’
and worked as a medical assistant for different doctors,” she explained.
“In 2012, I started working for Dr. Joshua Kitchens at Methodist
Family Medicine.”
Spainhoward’s main duties involve taking patients back to the exam rooms, taking their vital signs, administering injections, and interacting with patients. “I make follow-up calls, too, to give patients their lab and other results,” she added.
“I love my patients and especially enjoy doing what I can to help out our elderly patients. I also enjoy all the people I work with, including Dr. Kitchens. He’s a good doctor; one of the best!”
Spainhoward has strong ties to the Methodist organization. She and her husband, Tony, live in Henderson County. Her son, two stepdaughters and five of her eight grandchildren were born here.
“It’s the hometown feeling that makes it a great place to work,” she said. “There are a lot of good people here.” When Spainhoward was downsized from her job at Rayloc in Morganfield after more than 30 years, she chose to go back to Henderson Community College to train to become a CMA. “I’m glad I was able to get a job here; I’d rather be at Methodist than anywhere else.”
