For wounds that need specialized care, the Advanced Wound Healing Center is here to help
News
During your lifetime, you may develop a wound that is difficult to heal.
If this happens, an evaluation by the specialized team at the Methodist Health
Advanced Wound Healing Center in Henderson may be necessary.
What types of wounds can I be seen for at the Advanced Wound Healing Center?
At the Center, you can be seen for many types of wounds, including:
- Arterial ulcers
- Venous stasis ulcers
- Diabetic wounds
- Pressure ulcers
- Non-healing surgical wounds
- Trauma wounds
- Thermal burns
What can I expect to happen at my appointments?
At your initial visit, a thorough health history and history of the wound
will be obtained to help guide your care. The wound will be cleaned and
measured, along with other pertinent screenings, with an evaluation by
your provider to follow. After the initial visit, expect weekly appointments
for healing progression, evaluation and treatment until the wound heals.
How long will it take for my wound to heal?
Many factors, including chronic diseases, certain medications and smoking,
can affect how quickly a wound heals. While a specific healing time cannot
be predicted, the wound care team works together to develop an individualized
plan of care to help each patient move through the process as effectively
as possible.
How will I know how to care for my wound between appointments?
At your initial visit, a nurse will instruct you about each step in the
wound care process to make sure you feel comfortable with any needed care
at home. You will be sent home with supplies and staff will make arrangements
for you to have additional needed supplies delivered to your home.
How do I make an appointment at the Advanced Wound Healing Center?
If you have a wound that you feel needs to be evaluated by the wound care
team, a referral by your primary care provider is not needed. Call the
Advanced Wound Healing Center’s direct line, 270-631-2399.
