Employee Profile: Misty Nally

Misty Nally, MLT, ASCP, has been employed by the Laboratory at Methodist Health in Morganfield since 2003. “My duties are not typical to those of a lab tech in a larger hospital,” she said. “Because we’re a small community hospital, we aren’t departmentalized. We do it all, from hematology to microbiology, chemistry and blood bank. We collect samples and perform tests to help physicians treat and diagnose illness and disease.”
According to Nally, blood bank is her favorite area. “It’s something I’ve always been drawn to. Discovering antibodies patients have is like putting a puzzle together. I also liike the trauma part of it. Doing a cross-match can immediately affect someone’s life.” Nally is one of nine laboratory technicians and a part-time phlebotomist. “I appreciate working in a small hospital since I worked for a large hospital in Evansville for 12 years before beginning my job here. We have state-of-the-art technology that is in addition to having a hometown feel. Everyone truly cares for one another and we know the families we care for.”
Nally and her husband, Craig, have been married since 1991 and live on a farm in Uniontown. They have two grown daughters. Laken, 25, is a cardiac nurse in Evansville; Tarah, 20, is a junior at Western Kentucky University.
