Physical Therapy

Rehabilitation Services

Methodist Health Therapy Services offers a comprehensive Outpatient Program to assist patients in their recovery after illness, injury or a catastrophic event. We offer specialized services in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. Our services are tailored to the specific needs of each patient for maximum recovery.

  • Physical Therapy – If you have recently suffered an injury or undergone extensive surgery, you may need physical therapy to help recover. Physical therapy involves working with a trained physical therapist on exercises that will help your body regain mobility and reduce pain.
  • Occupational Therapy – Patients who suffer from impairment or disability, whether permanent or temporary, are often referred to occupational therapists. Occupational therapy is aimed at helping you regain independence by accomplishing day-to-day tasks despite your impairment.
  • Speech Therapy – Speech disorders can be the result of stuttering, lisping, stroke, brain damage and several other conditions. Speech therapists help patients overcome their condition and better communicate. People who have difficulty understanding speech may also benefit from speech therapy.

Our professional therapy staff works as a team to develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient.

Fall Prevention

Maintaining independence and self-sufficiency are concerns for everyone, as we age. Problems with dizziness or balance are often incorrectly dismissed as just a part of growing older. Physical Therapists can help reduce risk and help prevent falls. If you are having problems with your balance for any reason, you should talk to your doctor about it. The physician can refer you to professionals who are trained to address these issues.

Are you at risk?

  • Have you had a fall, or near fall in the past year?
  • Do you have poor endurance?
  • Do you ever feel dizzy or lightheaded?
  • Do you have poor vision?
  • Do you take more than four medications?
  • Do you have decreased sensation in your feel?
  • Do you have muscle weakness?
  • Do you have problems with your blood pressure?
  • Do you need a walker or cane to get around safely?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be at risk for a fall. We have a team of trained professionals ready to evaluate, identify, and treat conditions which may contribute to falls and related problems. It is important to have this condition treated before an injury occurs.

LVST BIG & Loud

The therapy is particularly useful to Individuals in all stages of Parkinson’s disease (PD) as well as sub-types of PD.

Improvements from LVST include:

  • Faster walking with bigger steps
  • Improved balance

  • Improved Speech volume
  • Improve speech clarity and intonation
