When to Visit a Gynecologist
Your gynecologist should be your first call when you encounter a health problem that is exclusive to women, such as an abnormal period or the early symptoms of menopause. It is recommended that you meet with a gynecologist at least once a year for a general health exam. As you get older, your gynecologist will recommend new screening procedures for medical problems that become more likely to occur with age, such as breast and cervical cancer. These tests may include pelvic exams, breast exams, and Pap smears.
