Maternity Services
Optimal Care for Moms & Their Newborns
Maternity services at Methodist Health’s Women’s Pavilion provide mothers and newborns with compassionate and attentive care in a state-of-the-art facility designed for comfort and safety. New moms enjoy one of our 25 private rooms with sunlit views of the Ohio River and surrounding landscape. Each room is laid out exactly the same so nurses and physicians know where all the essential supplies are located. The rooms are also divided into three zones - the family zone, patient zone, and caregiver zone. The three distinct areas allow family members to visit their loved ones without interrupting the flow of the Hospital.
What is Maternity Care?
Maternity care refers to the period from the time of pregnancy up to labor and delivery, and the first six weeks of the new infant’s life. During this time, the health of both mother and child are monitored to make sure everything is on track for a safe labor and delivery. You should have your first visit with a maternity specialist as soon as possible after learning that you are pregnant.
Maternity care specialists can help you with numerous things during your pregnancy, including:
- Education on what to expect during pregnancy, labor and delivery
- Pregnancy ultrasounds
- Building a healthy diet during pregnancy
- Monitoring the health of mother and baby during pregnancy
- Breastfeeding guidance after the baby is born
- Assisting families during the first six weeks of the baby’s life
Neonatal Intensive Care
We strive to prepare ourselves for every possible situation, including the birth of premature or ill babies. The most technologically advanced area of the Women's Pavilion houses our tiniest and most critical infants. Premature and seriously ill babies stay in our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where they benefit from 24-hour access to one of our Neonatologists and constant care by nurses who specialize in neonatal care.
Know that your child will receive the constant care it needs if there are any birthing complications, and we will do all in our power to see that your baby leaves the Hospital happy and healthy.
