What is a Non-Healing Wound?
How do you know when you have a non-healing wound that needs advanced care? There are many symptoms to watch out for:
- A wound that shows no sign of healing after several weeks
- Pain that gets worse over time
- Foul smells coming from the wound
- Redness and swelling around the wound
- Blue or dark discoloration around the wound
- Liquid leaking from the wound
- Wounds that are warm to the touch
The longer a wound stays open, the greater the risk that it will become infected. If you have any symptoms of a non-healing wound, schedule an appointment with a medical professional as soon as possible.
